Introduction

The tradition of Group Relations Conferences has generated extraordinary ideas and intuitions regarding unconscious collective thought processes, images, emotions, anxieties, defensive responses and the impact these reactions have on a system to “stay on task”. It is our responsibility to explore and create structures which nurture wellbeing and vitality in the systems we live in.

Our proposal is to offer a Group Relations Conference where traditional methods, internationally practiced for over sixty years, will focus on the dimension of the body and of energy as well as on their sustainable relationship with the environment.

Methodology

The conference is a temporary organisation shaped by the collaboration of the participants and of the staff. Learning is experiential and based on the study of the here and now.

Residence is required: it is part of the learning as well as the observation of the web of relationships deveoped in the course of the conference’s events. This method requires self- reflection and encourages a free spirit of research and thinking.

Membership

The conference is directed at individuals,
from all walks of life, who are interested
in understanding groups, organisational
dimensions and the evolutionary level
found in the social contexts in which we
live. Specifically it is directed at those who
would like to sustain existing resources in
a better and ecological way and to bring
new thoughts and wellbeing into the
organisations where they operate.

Climate change is an unavoidable reality
threatening the equilibrium of the globe
which requires to be faced with attentive
eyes turned both to the world we live in
as well as to an inner world often moved
by acquired habits and unchallenged
assumptions. In all social groups and
in organisations, both corporations and
institutions, the present crisis which
covers an interconnected web of causes,
from the financial to the environmental,
calls for a change of direction. By
activating new creative processes, it is
possible to shift from a point of view
based on unlimited expansion to one
based on the reality of conscious use of
limited resources.

The experience of the conference will
allow participants, in the roles of leader
and follower, to learn and reflect upon
these themes and the possibility of
creative collaboration towards the
realisation of a common task.
ECW is a work in progress and a fertile
field of research in the field of Group
Relations Conferences: we recommend,
if you have already participated, to enroll
in this fifth edition to deepen learning
and develop the ability to apply it in the
context of your life.

FEEDBACK FROM PARTICIPANTS
The conference created a shift in me and the
realization that I could pick up my past work
and deliver it with renewed conviction in the
legitimacy of my voice.
Elizabeth Cory-Pearce

The working conference has to do with a
more subtle and resonant way of learning
and new ways of embodying information.
The mind in between observing and
participating, experiences time in a different
way and starts generating dialogues within
and new ways of thinking wellbeing.
Elena Giannotti
